Dr. Lance Roasa is a licensed veterinarian and attorney who founded The Roasa Law Group to help veterinary professionals across the U.S. navigate the legal and business complexities of veterinary medicine.

With a unique background in both clinical practice and law, Dr. Roasa specializes in veterinary employment contracts, practice acquisitions, and ownership transitions. He has served as legal counsel for hundreds of veterinarians; from new graduates and specialists reviewing their job offers to seasoned professionals negotiating multimillion-dollar practice sales.

Dr. Roasa is a 2008 graduate of Texas A&M University, where he pioneered the school’s first business-track clinical year, focusing his training on veterinary business and industry. In 2009, he purchased a solo small animal practice in the mountains of Colorado and successfully expanded it into a four-doctor, mixed-animal hospital with 15 employees in under five years. After selling the practice in 2013, he completed his law degree at the University of Nebraska, focusing on small business law, taxation, and the legal aspects of veterinary medicine.

He is a past president-elect of the American Veterinary Medical Law Association (AVMLA), serves on the board of directors for the Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association, and guest lectures at over a dozen veterinary colleges on topics such as medical recordkeeping, malpractice, and business ownership. He also serves as a national co-advisor to the Veterinary Business Management Association (VBMA), regularly speaking to student chapters and national conferences on growth strategies, business metrics, and technology implementation.

He also leads The Roasa Law Group, P.C., a law firm dedicated to supporting veterinarians in practice transactions, employment negotiations, and startup legal counsel. He is licensed to practice both law and veterinary medicine in Nebraska.

Dr. Roasa is also the host of Office Hours with Roasa Law, a podcast that breaks down complex legal topics into clear, actionable insights for veterinary professionals at every stage of their careers.

He lives in Nebraska with his wife, Abby, also a veterinarian, and their three children.
